Start Your Year Off with Healthy Habits
You made resolutions (or revisited old ones), but how do those resolutions get accomplished? You can promise to quit doing this or start doing that, but the turn of a calendar page doesn’t automatically make you capable of achieving these lifestyle-changing goals.
To truly get a new you this new year,
you have to change the way you think.
1. Stop thinking in comparisons.
To quote Theodore Roosevelt, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Your life was not meant to be like everybody else’s. So stop looking at those around you and run your own race.
2. Stop thinking from a place of lack.
Just because you wish for something, doesn’t make it happen. In fact, focusing on what you don’t have makes you less grateful for what you do have. Thinking in lack leads to living in lack.
3. Stop thinking about “Some Day.”
As the corny saying goes, “‘Some Day’ is not on the calendar.” Pining for the perfect day will always leave you in “never got around to it” land. The first of the week, the first of the month, the first of the year—none of them are any better than TODAY and RIGHT NOW.
4. Stop thinking you don’t have the time.
God gives us just enough time to accomplish everything we were meant to accomplish. That’s why Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under Heaven:” If you don’t think there’s enough time to be a better you, then you will always be right. (That’s how powerful your mind is.)
5. Start thinking about Future You today.
Who do YOU want to be?
What do YOU want to invite into your life?
How do YOU start living your best life today?
Start focusing on these things,
so you can actually become them.
Remember, as a man thinketh, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). It’s time to change your thinking, so you can change your life.
